It doesn’t require a lot to take in bits and pieces of the country’s art and cultural history. A simple visit to the museum can start the ball rolling and once interest is spurred, it can develop into a relatively more in-depth liking to the same.
Take for example Valerie Weigmann who decided to drop by the National Museum to see with her own eyes the several murals created by National Artist Vicente Manansala.
The photos here may appear like she just posed in the middle of the gallery. But before and after the shot was taken, she was actually taking in the fine details of each work up close. And then on the left image above, she was also able to view Juan Luna’s The Spoliarium. On the right, she gleefully posed with Guillermo E. Tolentino’s ‘Lualhati’ sculpture. So how many among us have really been able to visit the same? The experience is so different from just looking at online photos that come up after searching on Google. Try setting foot at the National Museum one of these days. :-)
