image The road of Mister Ilocos Norte Johnmar “JM” dela Cruz to Misters 2015 The Pageant is at turns rocky, with some curves that could blindside the faint-hearted maneuvering the steering wheel. But all throughout the trip, he has remained optimistic. Cautious more than ever, he is also more determined now to reach his destination. He’s not about to run low on gas. He is re-fueled. And not to turn this post into a melodrama for the tearjerker-seekers, the guy is stronger. Eyes on the prize, if you will.

JM might look like your boy-next-door looking for the right breaks. It stops there, though. He constantly opens the door to search and get to his mission as an individual – and that is to do good in his endeavors. After winning Mister Ilocandia, he took it as a passport to possible success in the nationals. He diligently went through the rigors of transforming himself to a pageant-worthy candidate. And now he is ready to unravel what he has worked hard for.

But before that, let us take a peek at what is running inside his head before finally joining the other contenders for this year’s titles.

1) As a Misters 2015 candidate, give me a 30-second intro about yourself which will make followers show more interest in you.

Hello everyone, I am JM dela Cruz, a loving brother and son. I wish I could win a Misters 2015 title to set a good example to others, and to show them that they should keep believing in their dreams and in themselves.

2) As one of the candidates, what image do you want to show the others?

I want to portray the image of a modern Filipino Gentleman. Classy and strong-willed.

3) In Miss Universe, a popular running line is “yellow is the color of joy”. What color best represents you?

Yellow. I’m a jolly person too. It fits my personality. I am noticeable but not overconfident.

4) Not everyone can win a special award in the competition, but if you are qualified for the following, which would you prefer to win: Mister Friendship or Mister Talent?

Mister Frienship. I’m a people oriented person.

5) If you win one of the titles, people will expect you to be a good role model. How will you start building that image if ever?

First, I should show how loving I am to my family. Start with baby steps by creating a good image of me in relation to my family members. I believe everything starts at home before going outside to your community.

6. Having joined a regional male pageant earlier this year, what difference do you expect in terms of handling Misters2015 competition? Will you adopt a new gameplan?

I expect that it will be a tougher competition. I should focus, but still enjoy the whole event and be myself.

7. How do you expect your life to change after being named an Official Candidate of Misters 2015?

I will become a public personality subject to public scrutiny. I need to prepare for that.

8) Any message to your followers, JM?

Salamat sa suporta at sa darating pa. I will need them to further motivate me in the competition.

JM is straightforward with his answers. But if you see through his personality, he has more substance than what he can succinctly provide in a one-one-one. Hopefully, he will get to what he is aiming for in Misters 2015. By then, he will have justified himself even more. ;-)
