This talented guy can actually act, sing and dance his way to your heart. He has done theater work, the most recent of which is the play “Result”. And don’t get him started with planes. He knows how to fly one, just as he is skilled in both hand-held weapons and hand-feet-coordinated martial arts.
In his Facebook account, Jules is quoted saying these lines about his preparations for the male competition. “…I am pushing my mind body and soul for this, with the support of only a handful of family and friends who are doing everything they can to help. Truly blood, sweat and tears. My hard work will determine my success. Time to show the Filipino society who I am and what I intend to do. I am a voice. I am different. I am change.”
Read Mr. FilComm-Great Britain’s Q&A now.1) As a Misters 2015 candidate, give me a 30-second intro about yourself which will make followers show more interest in you.
“My name is Jules Chan, I am 19 years old and I was born in Manila and raised in England. I am an aspiring actor who can sing as well as dance! I have based my training in London and have become a part of The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain as well as, studying at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I was promoted as a Corporal at the Royal Air Cadets where I was trained to fly, operate a semi-automatic rifle and command a squad through leadership. Moreover, I am trained at Martial Arts – Karate and love basketball! I have previously won the Mr. Philippines UK 2013 and used my image to become an ambassador to raise money for typhoon Yolanda. Ultimately, I want to make a difference and become an ambassador of the Filipino community globally. I believe that I have a purpose to be somebody and indeed, to make my parents proud of who I am and my achievements.”
2) As one of the candidates, what image do you want to show the others?
“I want to portray that I am a proud Filipino, that I am an example of change and the better future of our community. I want to show the Philippines that it is time to think global. We are living in a competitive global community and our largest export of power around the world is labour. I want to show the world that the Filipino are more than just that, but we capable of being world class competitors. I want to emphasise what hard work, humility and passion can achieve.”
3) In Miss Universe, a popular running line is “yellow is the color of joy”. What color best represents you?
“The colour that best represents me is White. White signifies peace, harmony and brightness. White is also a manifestation of light, a hope in everyone’s darkness and a symbol of optimism. I believe that there is a light in everyone and we are all meant to shine. Life is a journey and full of choices, I choose to look life on a positive perspective and outshine darkness with my light.”
4) Not everyone can win a special award in the competition, but if you are qualified for the following, which would you prefer to win: Mister Friendship or Mister Talent?
“Either of the two, I want to make friends and share my talent so that I can inspire people. If I were to choose one – friendship because friendship promotes harmony, peace, team work and togetherness. We are a global family and I believe it is essential to win friends and influence people to help, motivate and inspire each other and change the world.”
5) If you win one of the titles, people will expect you to be a good role model. How will you start building that image if ever?
“I will use my image to inspire people and be the light which sparks the fire in their hearts to chase their dreams and start ambitions. I want to serve as an example to show that everyone can achieve their goals with hard work, perseverance and prayer. I will encourage people to help each other, make differences and changes to build a better economy so that the Philippines can become a competitor in this global society we live in and to be proud to be a Filipino.”
6) Having joined other male contests (like Mr. Philippines UK) in the past, what difference do you expect in terms of handling Misters2015 competition? Will you adopt a new gameplan?
“My game plan has never been different and I believe it will never change because life is all about being happy, working hard and enjoying the journey. My achievements in the past, has passed, but I believe that what you do today determines who you are tomorrow, therefore, I want to conquer my fears and open new doors to opportunities and experiences that I have never encountered before.”
7) How do you expect your life to change after being named an Official Candidate of Misters 2015?
Jules is a very forward-thinking individual. And I reckon he will bring a unique element of surprise to the competition soon.“No one knows what tomorrow may bring. Although, I have always been raised to work hard, enjoy life and change the world. That will never change, I will always be proud of who I am and proud to be Filipino. To epitomise my message, we are all followers chasing our dreams and the Lord is our Shepherd leading the way. But it is up to you to make a decision to become a leader, to be different and to chase your dreams. Take pride in who and what you are and help each other to achieve and build upon the global image of the Philippines. Thank you po!”
Let’s look forward to Mr. FilCom Great Britain in Misters 2015 The Pageant! :-)
