Janicel: Jockeying for our 6th Miss International crown

During the open forum with Bb. Pilipinas International 2015 Janicel Lubina at the send-off yesterday afternoon at the Gateway Mall, our Queen was very honest in admitting that she got both happy and nervous all over after learning that Ann Colis won Miss Globe 2015. She was so happy that her sister won, but she was also nervous thinking that she should also do well in Miss International 2015. And that pretty much sums up the kind of motivation burning inside of our bet nowadays. More than ever, she wants to do all of the Filipinos just as proud.

And Miss Universe Philippines 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach added a small anecdote that gave everyone an idea as to how simple and kind-hearted Janicel is. She said that every payday, their youngest would always disappear for a little longer than a while. And when others would query about her whereabouts, one of them would tell that she just went to the nearest “money padala” center to remit part of her salary to Palawan so her mother and siblings would have the means to buy food and other basic items at home.

But enough of the small drama. Janicel also displayed her learned phrases and statements in Nihongo. She wants to show the Japanese locals her efforts at communicating in their language even if she might flub a pronunciation or two in the process. The innate charm is always intact. And I reckon that she will get into the hearts sooner than anyone can say “Arigato gozaimasu!”
