When you’re young, beautiful and standing 6 feet tall, the chances of being noticed are incredibly high. There simply is no way to be overlooked because it is such an effortless advantage that only needs to get maximized by the person herself or the people who train her.
Such is the case of Paombong, Bulacan native and Binibini 21 Jessica Gonzales who is clearly the tallest among all the contenders of Bb. Pilipinas 2016. She commands attention, and if her presence catches up quickly (as I know it will), then she can easily become one of the more consistent top picks in this edition. After all, who wouldn’t love a truly statuesque Filipina to represent us in the international pageant stage?
In Jessica’s own words now, she poured a part of her heart on how the Binibini path has been ushered in her midst and how the appreciation warms her heart the most. Read on.
This is my first pageant – Bb. Pilipinas – the most prestigious beauty pageant in our country. I feel so blessed that i was given the chance to be part of this year’s hopefuls. I never thought that i would be joining any pageant as I am really shy. But slowly, i learned how to overcome my fears and shyness. I’ve gained confidence and self-esteem.
Now that i am here, i feel so happy about everything that is happening. I enjoy every activity that we do. At the same time, i feel so overwhelmed that there are people – even the ones that I don’t know personally – who believe in what I can do.
Yes, I am a first-timer but it doesn’t mean I cannot make it. Because joining Bb. Pilipinas is not only for myself but also for the people who support and believe in me, most especially my family.
I am blessed enough to have this towering height. Being the tallest among the BbP candidates is one of my greatest advantages. It is not common for a pure Filipina to be this tall. There are people who seem to get intimidated when I stand beside them (even my friends and other family members).
Lastly, in this pageant, everything can be enhanced and trained, facial projection through make-up, hair styling, the way you walk and talk, but never the height. Height truly matters.
Jessica Gonzales is as tall as any Binibini can get, pageant-wise. Everything can be managed and transformed except the height. She has it, six feet and all.
