During last Thursday after-lunch Press Conference at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center, members of the media were allowed two (2) questions each during the open mic. I hurriedly joined the queue because – as previously experienced – getting at the end of the line could mean asking just one due to lack of time.
My first Q was: “If you had the power as Miss Universe to choose the next Miss Universe Philippines, what qualifications would you be looking for?”
She actually gave a very lengthy reply. But to give the gist of her thoughts, she would look for someone who really shows the hunger for the crown, someone who wants to wear it with pride and commitment. She added that the responsibility is huge and the next winner should look at the demands more wholistically. She must always look forward to what she will do next and how she will prepare for the same, such as what awaits her the day after winning or the following weeks or a month before leaving for the big competition. It goes without saying that Miss Universe Philippines 2016 has mighty big shoes to fill, and that she has to really give her devotion to live up the role and be an all-around inspiration for the Filipinos here and abroad.
For my 2nd question, I asked something light because the air inside Monet 2 was already in such a serious state. “What do you intend to cook for us in your next online video?”
With a more relaxed smile this time around, Queen P stated that the cooking part might now be over because it took them such a long time to film that particular segment. She is now more interested in featuring some of the more interesting beaches in the Philippines, such as those in Boracay Island and Panglao in Bohol. She feels that it would give watchers a more varied peek into what the Philippines can offer to the tourists.
