Athena Catriz is now vying for the Miss Philippines Earth 2016 crown
Her full name is Athena Mari Jamaica Catriz. To pageant followers, she is simply known as Athena Catriz, 25 years old and representing the City of San Pedro (Laguna) in the ongoing Miss Philippines Earth 2016 competition. And why is she pursuing this title with all her determination and might?
“I want to be Miss Philippines Earth so I can continue protecting the environment. I believe that this is a platform for me to raise awareness about the matters concerning our environment. I want to be an advocate that will save our Mother Earth and the people who live in it.”

Athena, as we all know, is no pageant newbie as she has already taken part in Miss Global Philippines 2014, became one of the runners-up and was eventually chosen to represent the country in Miss Summer International 2015 held in Barranquilla, Colombia. She placed 3rd Runner-Up in that one (see photo below).

MPE2016 is not an entirely different ballgame for Athena, except for the major emphasis on her environmental advocacy which is waste management. Can she achieve a meaningful victory in this one?
