So what exactly has she been trained to do?
“…training in fire fighting operations taught me on how to extinguish fires outside and inside a confined space. I experienced strenuous training that tests my endurance in performing different tasks at different stages. For instance, monkey climbing, throwing and rolling of different diameter size of fire hoses, climbing standard and extension ladders, wearing Personal Protective Equipment with self-contained breathing apparatus on my back with approximate weight of 45 kilos and to run for about 100 meters and perform firefighting while handling a hose line with water pressure for above 50 psi. Further, these trainings made me become a well-equipped person ready to perform rescue operations in order to achieve an efficient and effective accomplishment of the goals as fire fighter.
So how does Angelyn connect her work to Mother Earth advocacies?
“…my environmental advocacy focuses on environmental awareness about safety prevention and suppression procedures and measures from destructive fire and responses to man-made and natural disaster and other emergencies.
This advocacy will be an Environmental Safety Debate among High School students. I choose this advocacy because I want to disseminate information among individuals the essence of our environmental safety and our role on how to take good care of it, not only through me but also with the help of the students and people who will support and participate in the environmental safety debate, therefore it will be possible. I can see through this advocacy the unity of the people to gather information (advantages/disadvantages) and how would to make our place a better place to live by working hand to hand through an efficient and effective ways to achieve the goals for the betterment of mother earth. I envision a place where the community and the government work together for the protection of the environment.
