Ask the people who attended the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Press Presentation to rattle off their favorites and a good number would recite names other than Pia Wurtzbach.
Ask them afterwards why they didn’t even think of Pia Wurtzbach right away and the reply would be something like “…oh, Pia also. She’s also good.“
The lasting impressions, while hit-or-miss, reflect what a few of the ‘knowledgeable’ ones have been thinking all along – that Pia Wurtzbach is almost certain of being crowned on March 30 so she need not look and project with tempered desperation.
I’m not totally buying that line of thinking, though. This year’s competition is unlike any other Bb. Pilipinas edition. And to make conclusions that one girl is a sure winner would be outright foolish. I would rather use the additional element of luck in analysis than rely on what may have happened in recent years.
Pia is and will remain a frontrunner. Let’s see if she will catch all the stars going into the March 30 finals and make the dying minutes of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 a reason to celebrate.
