My Dozen Desirables of Mr. World 2014
Coming up with a Top 12 – let alone a Top 10 – can be quite a tricky arrangement to make with the candidates of Mr. World 2014.
For one, there will definitely be just a Top 10 based on past competitions. And in that eventual group, half of the number will be the Special Award winners in fast-track segments- Extreme Challenge, Sports, Talent, Fashion & Style and Multimedia. So for now, Mr. Moldova Valeriu Gutu is already a lock for one of the spots after topping the first-concluded event.
As for Sports, my hunch is that Mr. Bahamas DeVaughn Gow might end up scoring more points than the rest. In Talent, it could be a battle between Mr. Netherlands Demian Overduijn and Mr. England Jordan Williams. Fashion & Style-wise, Mr. Mexico Jose Pablo Minor and Mr. Philippines John Spainhour could be in the final mix, just as they are also vying to nail the Multimedia pennant along with Mr. India Prateek Jain. Hence, the inclusions of the aforementioned names are relatively justified from where I stand.
The remaining slots are almost fair game for everyone else. I would give extra consideration, though, to Mr. Peru Diego Conroy as he has shown more grit and fighting spirit, not to mention killer looks that will never go unnoticed.
And so, who are we left with to add as possible major contenders? I would place my bets on the refreshing Mr. Denmark Nicklas Pedersen, the magnetic Mr. Argentina Jose Ferrer Santillan and the traditionally handsome Mr. Spain Jose Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Ros. And why not throw in Thibault Marchand of France for good measure?
That’s already a dozen. I gave myself two extra spaces because the line-up is giving me a mild headache on who to and not to include in my predictions. But if you ask me for a more definitive Top 3 forecast, my guess is that three continents will be represented.

Could Mr. World 2014 be the Dancing Biologist from the Netherlands, the Sweet-faced Sniper from the Philippines or the Kickass Football Hottie from Peru?
