Megan mentioned as early favorite by South Africa news Sunday World
With the help of my consummate ‘researcher’ Chrome, we just found an online news clipping which mentioned our Megan Young being tipped as an early favorite for Miss World 2013. Here’s the text in full:
“ While the contestants smiled their way through the beginning of the month-long pageant, the tight security betrayed the tension that has marred Miss World since the government of Indonesia decided to move the finals to Bali.
The main event was scheduled to take place at the Sentul International Convention Centre in Bogor on September 28.
But fierce protests from the Muslim community intensified to such an extent that it was deemed safer to move the pageant to Bali.
According to reports, the Grand Hyatt Jakarta has confirmed that all bookings were cancelled on Wednesday. It was to be the official host hotel.
Syafril Nasution, director of corporate affairs at RCTI TV station, which is hosting the event, reportedly said they had tried to get the government to reverse its decision, but to no avail.
He said the decision was regrettable because they had been preparing for three years and now had to scramble for a proper venue in Bali in just two weeks.
Meanwhile, early favourites among the contestants have emerged after this week’s ceremonies.
One of them is Miss Philippines Megan Young.
The gorgeous brunette has websites and blogs dedicated to her awesomeness, with more and more reader polls and votes coming in for her.
Blonde and beautiful Miss Brazil Sancler Frantz is hot on her heels with her sultry pout.
Miss Ukraine Anna Zayachkivska, Miss Peru Elba Fahsbender Merino and our very own Miss South Africa Marilyn Ramos are also tipped as top contenders. “
