Mutya ng Pilipinas will have two sets of judges for 2014

One set of judges for the Pre-Pageant. A second set for the Finals Night. That is how Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014 will be elected. A big change from previous years, but a welcome development for the beauty competition.

And true to its reputation of attracting the most number of delegates from Filipino Communities in different countries (with at least seven (7) so far), they continue to get the support from abroad given their more lenient policy regarding overseas-born joiners.

One of them is Mutya ng Toronto Christina Montero Devries who already represented the Philippines during Miss United Continent 2013 held in Guayaquil, Ecuador. This time around, she is more enthusiastic about being recognized as a fully-certified Filipina beauty queen by hopefully nailing the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014 crown next month. Will she make it?

But perhaps, one of the homegrown contenders will be favored by the judges. Mutya ng Tarlac Cheryl Chen is coming into the contest as one of the Kagandahang Flores entries. This 20 year-old reigned as Miss Moncada 2010 and lives quite an active lifestyle.

The truth is, it will be quite difficult to pinpoint the one who will claim the one and only title being offered this year. There may be a Top 5, but a runner-up status is the highest place four other ladies can claim bragging rights for.
