For more than half a month now, I have blogged about my own version of the Bb. Pilipinas 2016 watch – giving you glimpses and sneak peeks (even a blind item and a supposedly mystery girl) on which girls are likely to join for the first time, return for a second time, rejoin for a third time, cross over from another national beauty pageant, sign up after finishing her studies and fulfill the residency requirement just to be able to take part in one.
I have actually featured almost thirty (30) potential Binibinis by now and removed (from the two photo grids here) the ones who are more interested in skipping first (like Laura Lehmann, for example) before finally giving their nods for 2017 or 2018.
Which ones among them are really dead serious in taking part and eventually winning one of the crowns at stake? I bet majority them are. Otherwise, I would not have written about their plans at all – however the probability of screening is still short of 100%.
There are those chasing time with the ceiling age limit catching up fast. There are the ones who have been challenged further after their first tries proved to be close – but not close enough – for a win. There are the ladies who think that they have handsomely paid their dues in the industry and are ready to go for the kill in the biggest league. A couple may have also been prevented in the past due to contractual conflicts but are now scot-free to take the plunge. And of course, we have the ones who have been constantly egged on and clamored by thousands of pageant fans to finally become part of an edition.
The deadline for submission has been set at January 30. And for sure, we shall know who are really committed among them. As I have stated in the past, Bb. Pilipinas 2016 will really separate the beautiful girls from the strong women. And aside from being inspired by the “confidently beautiful with a heart” quip of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, they should also have the nerves of steel to step it up several notches higher.
After all, a Bb. Pilipinas winner has not had the chance to aim for a back-to-back win in Miss Universe for more than four decades now. The next one will either make history or create an even bigger splash in the country’s colorful pageant achievements. :-)
